Pretty Tree!

Hurrah! We have our Christmas tree and it's twinkling and glittering with lights and decorations. Lilli loves the tree. She nodded enthusiastically when I asked if she liked the tree and agreed with me again when I asked if she thought it was pretty. She touches the dangling penguins and baubles with a gentle and curious finger and gazes at the lights with interest. I'm eagerly looking forward to a slew of new toys for Lilli. Christmas can't come soon enough! We've been isolated at home for the past couple of weeks with a seemingly never-ending cold we brought back from our fun Thanksgiving in LA. Green snot pus the kaibosh on many social activities and ruins many a clean sweater! Needless to say we're both tired of all the old toys and these four walls and were delighted to rejoin our music group this morning. Lilli enthusiastically danced around the room and in her excitement managed to execute her first feet off the ground and into the air jump!! She's been working on that for weeks!! She's also been honing her drawing skills and yesterday she announced that she was going to draw a hat "at, at" before drawing a couple of intersecting circles. She pointed at it, looked at me and stated proudly "at, at." She signed "hat" just to make sure that I had understood! This is the first time she's made me aware that her scribbles are anything more than erratic zigzags and swirls. However Lilli can not be left alone with crayons. It seems that she has a taste for them. Orange and pink are apparently very delicious colours. Though they are all blue to her!! Blue is the one colour word she can say so consequently all colours are blue. Every once in a while, if you are lucky you may hear a "pupple" but again it's application is questionable. Here's to a Christmas in our home where Santa is wearing blue and the Christmas tree is purple. Add to that surreal vision a little girl recklessly spinning in circles around our pine-needled festooned rug to The Nutcracker. Merry Christmas all.
