Happy New Year!

Welcome 2011! And what a hello it was. We crept through the front door in the wee hours of the new year expecting to find Uncle Pete working at his lap top. But no, Uncle Pete was not to be found. We heard a rustle on the monitor. Jon and I glanced at each other, feeling concern, amusement and enlightenment. Lilli had finally woken up on Uncle Pete's watch. We tiptoed upstairs and there they were, Uncle Pete and Lilli nestled in our bed in the dark. Awake for an hour. Poor Pete! The fireworks had startled her and Uncle Pete was unaware of the night-waking drill. Though whether Lilli would have fallen back to sleep without a visit from Mummy or Daddy is another matter. Lilli didn't get back to sleep until 4 that morning and was up for the day just 2 hours later. We groggily survived sleep deprivation, a hangover and a cranky toddler on day 1 of 2011. What will the rest of the year bring?

I'm hoping that the year will start with colourful cushions for Lilli's reading nook. I have the fabrics and now I need the time to get craftsy. Exercise is another wish for the year. I am 2 weeks in to the Couch to 5K program. My new running shoes are an inspiration to get out the door. I love running through the neighbourhood in the dark evenings. I can peer into the lit-up houses and see how people choose to decorate (or not) their homes. Jon would probably like to play more guitar and practice more yoga. Oh, and to be able to finally stop thinking about our home and what project needs to be tackled next!

If Lilli were to have plans for the new year it would look something like this:

1. Wear my tutu always
2. JUMP
3. Finger paint every day
4. Talk more and more and more ... I have so much to say!
5. Kiwis, kiwis, kiwis - why did Mum and Dad hold out on me for so long?
6. No more diaper changes ... please
7. Play with Uncle Pete all the time
8. Giggle LOTS
9. Take a bubble bath every night
10. Get more cuddles and kisses
